Licences and liability

The app’s Licences and disclaimer page (Licences et avertissement, in the side menu or linked below the sign-in form) lists every third-party component, with its version and licence: those of the interface, generated at each build, and those of the server, read from the packages actually installed.

AquasManager is provided “as is”, without warranty. The app controls electrical equipment and helps look after living creatures: a network or power cut, a failure or a configuration mistake can stop or start a device at the wrong moment.

  • It doesn’t replace your supervision or independent safeties: a safety thermostat on the heater, a residual-current circuit breaker, a level alarm, an overflow tray.
  • Dosing calculations, trends, alerts and the AI assistant’s answers are indicative: check before acting.
  • Purchase documents help with traceability, but compliance with regulations (CITES in particular) remains your responsibility.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author cannot be held liable for damage resulting from use of the app. Make regular backups.

AquasManager builds on free software, almost all under permissive licences (MIT, BSD, Apache-2.0). The few exceptions:

Component Licence Use
ESPHome MIT (tool) / GPL-3.0 (firmware C++ code) compiles the controllers’ firmware, called as a separate program
esptool GPL-2.0 uploads the firmware, through ESPHome
Eclipse Mosquitto EPL-2.0 / EDL-1.0 MQTT broker, separate container
go2rtc MIT (image with FFmpeg, LGPL/GPL) optional camera video service, separate container
zeroconf and a few compression libraries LGPL-2.1 used unmodified
pywebpush, certifi MPL-2.0 used unmodified

The firmware installed on your ESP32s contains ESPHome’s C++ code, under GPL-3.0: it’s compiled on your own server, from a configuration you can view (Controllers › Configuration).

Charts use Apache ECharts (Apache-2.0) and the Geist fonts (OFL-1.1).

AquasManager provides no AI model. The model or service you connect falls under its own licence and terms of use: see AI assistant.
